Friday: Sgt. John C. Alaimo Memorial Bridge will be Dedicated in Johnstown

HARRISBURG – The formal renaming of a Johnstown bridge honoring fallen Vietnam War Army Sergeant John C. Alaimo will take place this week, Sen. Wayne Langerholc, Jr. (R-35) announced today.

Dedication of the Sgt. John C. Alaimo Memorial Bridge will take place Friday, March 1, at 9 a.m. in the auditorium of Greater Johnstown Senior High School located at 222 Central Ave.

Legislation renaming the bridge spanning Route 403 over Stonycreek River was introduced by Langerholc last year. He will be joined by PennDOT officials for the ceremony.

Sgt. Alaimo was killed in action in Bien Hoa on April 8, 1969.
