Friday: Dedication of Sergeant Vance Stephan Keslar Memorial Bridge in Adams Township

HARRISBURG – The formal renaming of a Cambria County bridge honoring World War II hero Vance Stephan Keslar will take place this week, Sen. Wayne Langerholc, Jr. (R-35) announced today.

Dedication of the Sergeant Vance Stephan Keslar Memorial Bridge will take place Friday, Feb. 23 at 11 a.m. at St. Michael’s Sportsman Club, 270 Main St. in Adams Township.

Legislation renaming the bridge spanning Route 869 was introduced by Langerholc last year. He’ll be joined by Sgt. Keslar’s family members and PennDOT officials for the ceremony.

Sgt. Keslar was born in East Conemaugh, Cambria County, and was stationed in Oahu, Hawaii on Dec. 7, 1941. He was awarded a Bronze Star for his heroic actions during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. Sgt. Keslar passed away July 22, 2003.
