HARRISBURG – Senate Education Committee Chairman Senator Wayne Langerholc, Jr. (R-35) hosted a hearing today to discuss the ongoing and future efforts to maintain continuity of education for students during the COVID-19 closure.
Langerholc offered the following remarks during the hearing about the importance of creating a clear path forward for students, parents and educators:
“It is time for a path forward, and the chance to speak to the thousands of parents across this Commonwealth who are yearning for guidance, for hope, for a return to education for their children. We know that path will not look the same as it did a year ago, six months ago, even two months ago. What we do know is that we are three months away from the beginning of a new academic year.
“As our Commonwealth recovers and counties prepare for a return to work, we likewise need to prepare for a return to school. And, we must do it in the safest way possible. Our children are our most precious asset, and nothing less than knowing they are safe will be acceptable. This hearing will focus on that path forward, and establishing a clear plan of action.”
