Free Fishing Seminar Scheduled for April 12 in Schellsburg

Area residents are invited to attend a free fishing seminar on Thursday, April 12 hosted by Senator Wayne Langerholc, Jr. (R-35) and Representatives Jesse Topper (R-Bedford/Franklin/Fulton) and Carl Walker Metzgar (R-Bedford/Somerset).

“Our area is home to many outstanding creeks, rivers and streams that offer affordable recreational opportunities for individuals and families,” Langerholc said.  “This seminar is a great opportunity for area residents to learn more about Pennsylvania’s boating and fishing laws; programs and services available; and other timely information about fishing in Pennsylvania.”

The seminar will be held from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 12 at the Shawnee Valley Fire Company, 3885 Pitt Street in Schellsburg.

Representatives from the Mountain Laurel Chapter of Trout Unlimited, the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission and the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources will be on hand to discuss a number of topics to get local anglers and boaters ready for the upcoming fishing and boating seasons.

“With trout season in full swing, I strongly encourage residents to attend this free event so they can learn more about fishing in our state,” Topper said. “Boaters will also benefit attending this seminar as the state’s laws regarding boating will also be explained.”

This seminar is free to attend; however, seating for the event is limited and advance registration is required.  For more information or to register contact: Tonya Clark at (814) 623-5004 or tclark@pasen.gov.
