Langerholc Says State Grant for UPJ Trail/Sidewalk Project Will Help Improve Safety, Encourage Economic Development

Senator Wayne Langerholc, Jr. (R-35) today offered the following statement on the awarding of a $500,000 state grant to University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown through the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s Multimodal Transportation Fund.

“I was pleased to work closely with Rep. Barbin, PennDOT and the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown to obtain funding for this important project, which represents a significant investment in public safety and economic development.”

“The construction of a trail and sidewalk will facilitate pedestrian traffic between the university, Penn Highlands Community College and the Richland School District, making it easier for people to gain access to important services and facilities.”

“Projects like this are critical to improving the quality of life for residents and bringing jobs and new opportunities to our area.  I thank all those who worked so hard to obtain this funding and make this project a reality.”
