HARRISBURG – (May 3, 2017) Residents in Cambria, Clearfield and Bedford Counties who are affected by the growing heroin and opioid epidemic are encouraged to join in a special Telephone Town Hall meeting, to be held from 6 to 7 pm on Tuesday, May 9, with Senator Wayne Langerholc, Jr. (R-35) and several expert guests.
Residents can call in or listen live online from the convenience of their home or office to ask questions and receive information and support. The format is similar to a call-in radio talk show.
Guests on the call include Cambria County District Attorney Kelly Callihan; Bedford County District Attorney Bill Higgins; and Dawn Housel, Executive Director of Personal Solutions, Inc.

“We need to have a multi-faceted approach to combating this horrific epidemic, and I am proud to be working on two bills which are directly related to fixing this problem,” Sen. Langerholc said. “The first bill would restore mandatory minimums for serious drug offenses, which allows us to target the high-level dealers who are profiting from poisoning our loved ones. The second would create a program which would allow counties to better direct addicts to treatment that actually cures their addiction rather than just treat their symptoms or give them their fix.”
